The Power Of Twitter: Swiss Ministry Of Communications Suspended

The Twitter account of the Swiss Ministry Of Communications has been suspended due to a “violation of twitter rules”. It is still not clear which specific twitter rules were violated, but the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) has stated that it has been unable to tweet since 28 September.

The fact that this is a serious problem for the Swiss Ministry of Communications indicates the tremendous level of power these social media platforms hold in today’s society.

OFCOM’s Twitter account has been temporarily blocked without justification. We are in contact with Twitter to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We ask for your understanding for the inconvenience.”
