Riots Erupt in Philadelphia Following Police Shooting

Philadelphia Riots

Following footage that emerged of Philadelphian police fatally shooting 27-year-old African American man Walter Wallace, riots have once more emerged in the United States.

Looting, vandalism, and rioting are currently occurring throughout Philadelphia, and cars are being set on fire in response to the recent incident.

Last night, protestors expressed their disdain with the shooting at the 18th District police building, which resulted in the hospitalization of at least four officers who had been hit by projectile bricks.

It’s alleged that Wallace held a knife while walking toward officers prior to being shot roughly 10 times, after which the police took Wallace to hospital where he died.

“Why didn’t they use a Taser?” asked Wallace’s father, who went on to say that “[Wallace’s] mother was trying to defuse the situation.”

Wallace’s father continued to say that said his son had suffered mental health issues and was also on medication at the time of the shooting. “He has mental issues,” Wallace’s father said. “Why you have to gun him down?”
