16 People Arrested Amid Anti-Lockdown Protests in Melbourne

After continued lockdowns throughout Victoria, anti-lockdown protesters have erupted throughout Melbourne, with many involved with the protests clashing with police.

Footage shows protesters attacking police horses with flagpoles, and currently, 16 people have been arrested and a further 96 people were issued penalty notices.

The ongoing lockdowns throughout Victoria have prompted a backlash against VIC’s premier Dan Andrews, with former Prime Minister Tony Abbott claiming that Victoria’s lockdowns were “the most severe lockdowns outside of Wuhan” when it came to COVID-19, and hundreds of health professionals have similarly called for an end to the lockdowns.

Currently, Victoria has reported over 800 COVID-19 deaths and over 20,000 reported cases, however most recently, Victoria reported just one new case of COVID-19 in a day.
